Predictions are provided for mixed elastohydrodynamic conditions of meshing hyoid gear teeth pairs light truck differentials. Under transient conditions, pertaining to vehicle cruising or in urban driving, the lubricant is subjected non-Newtonian traction. The complex kinematics, comprising rolling, sliding and squeeze film motions. Furthermore, instantaneously varying angled flow into contact constitutes a precession footprint, further complicating prevailing conditions. inclusion all these interacting kinematics shows that thickness, shear characteristics transmission efficiency significantly affected by ensuing transience.
